There’s a distinction between the sensation
of raw space, and the making of place –
– a place to be, that can be, held.
The nature of holding is about warmth, holding — being held. Etymologically, it might be offered that “relating” is really about “holding” and “carrying.”
The nature of storytelling — is reflexive and reflective — a well-told story is held in the heart of the teller; and shared, carried away in the mind and heart of the experiencer. One story becomes another, and another, in the character of the narrative — it flows outwardly. And too, inwardly, the story tunes and iterates — it becomes a fractal on itself; it interlaces in the mind, memory and explication: its unfolding.
A powerful place — a cathedral or a small church, a corridor or hallway — a mega store or a small shop — a massive marketplace eatery or a tiny, street front café. Each, in variation, can have heart — and can be held — and taken away, emotionally embraced in mind and memory.
Other, new stories emerge.
As you take your journey, what is your place, in it?
