Top Brands International, a brand-management company based in Panama, engaged GIRVIN with the need for name development and identity design for a new series of duty-free stores in malls across Colombia which would merchandise high-end imported perfume and cosmetic brands.
Naming
Targeting middle to upper class Colombian women, the name had to resonate within the luxury Spanish demographic and be easy to pronounce for native Spanish speakers, while at the same time appealing to a culture that prizes foreign, imported cosmetic and perfume brands. The name concept ESCENTIA captures the word “Essence” with “Scent” nested in the middle, all with a Spanish language feel.
Logo
The logo had to be in cohesion with the already established interior design of the store and reflect a modern, crisp aesthetic. GIRVIN’s approach was to deliver a solution that was minimalist and clean with a high-end feel. The winning design was this completely custom san-serif typography with subtle weighting and a swooping flare representative of an eyelash and to give the logo a feminine lightness
